iBalanz

Privacy policy

Your financial data stays on your phone. Here we explain in plain language what iBalanz does with your information.

At a glance
  • Your financial data is stored on your phone. We have no servers collecting it.
  • We do not sell your information or share it with advertisers. The free version shows Google ads; with iBalanz Plus, none.
  • Backup to your Google Drive, the AI assistant and Automatic entries are optional: you choose whether to enable them.

Who is responsible

iBalanz is a DprojectLab app (identifier com.ibalanz.app). If you have questions about your data, write to us at ibalanz.soporte@gmail.com.

Your financial information

Everything you save in iBalanz (transactions, income, expenses, cards, loans, accounts, goals, budgets, notes, reminders, any receipts or photos you attach and, if you write it, your name so the app can greet you) stays on your device. It is not sent to any of our servers, because we do not have any.

Optional backup to your Google Drive

If you enable backup, iBalanz stores a copy in a private, hidden folder in your own Google Drive account (the area reserved for apps). To do this, you sign in with Google; the app uses your email address and basic profile information only to identify your account and backup.

The copy includes your profiles, your settings, your name and what Automatic entries have learned (without the text of the alerts). It also keeps the list of phones that use that copy (an identifier created by the app, the phone's name or model and the last time it connected), so you can see your devices and sign out of the ones you no longer use.

The copy stays under your control: we have no access to it. You can disconnect your account from the app whenever you want, and delete the copy from your Google Drive (we explain how below).

AI assistant (optional)

The assistant is disabled by default, and the app does not include an AI key. If you choose to use it, you enter your own key from a provider you select: Groq, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, OpenRouter, OpenAI, or Anthropic.

When you ask it something, the app sends directly from your phone to that provider:

  • Your question and the recent chat conversation.
  • A summary of your finances: the month's totals, a summary of previous and upcoming months, your accounts with their balances, your cards and loans (debt, limit, statement and payment dates, installments and rates), your goals, your fixed budget, your upcoming payments and your last 12 transactions (description, amount, date and status).
  • The iBalanz help articles that match your question.

Your card or account numbers, the notes or descriptions of your transactions, your photos and your bank alerts are never sent. iBalanz does not act as an intermediary, store or see those queries, and their handling is subject to the privacy policy of the provider you chose. Your key is stored only on your device, and in Settings › AI Assistant › View privacy report you can see at any time what is shared.

Automatic entries (optional, part of iBalanz Plus)

If you turn on Automatic entries, iBalanz suggests transactions based on your bank alerts and the receipts you share with it. Everything happens inside your phone:

  • To read the alerts, you give iBalanz the “Notification access” permission in your phone settings, and you can remove it whenever you want. Text message alerts are read as notifications from your messaging app: iBalanz does not ask for permission to read your SMS.
  • The app only pays attention to alerts that mention an amount of money. From those, it notes which app or sender sent them, so you can choose it, and it keeps the text only from the apps and senders you check. All other alerts are ignored and security codes are never stored.
  • If you share a receipt (image or PDF) or choose an image to teach it, its text is read on your phone with Google's text recognition (ML Kit), which runs on the device itself.

The text of alerts and receipts is not sent to any server, to Google Drive or to backups. What the app learns from them does travel in your backup, so you do not start from scratch on another phone: the format of your bank's alerts (without amounts or dates), merchant names, the account or card references that appear in the alerts (for example, their last digits) with the account they match, and the categories you give them.

ML Kit sends Google technical usage data (phone model, app version, performance and an installation identifier) to maintain and improve the service. It never sends the images or their text.

Ads (free version)

The free version of iBalanz shows Google AdMob ads: a banner and, at most once a day, a full-screen video. To show them, measure them and prevent fraud, Google's ad service may collect:

  • Your phone's advertising ID and other device or installation identifiers.
  • An approximate location calculated from your IP address (iBalanz does not ask for access to your location).
  • How you interact with the ads, for example whether they were shown or whether you tapped them.
  • Technical and diagnostic information, such as app performance and crashes.

iBalanz never shares your transactions, balances, accounts, notes or any other financial data with Google or advertisers.

Your choices:

  • If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app first asks whether you accept personalized ads. There, and in the U.S. states whose privacy laws require it, you can change your choice in Settings › Security › Ad privacy.
  • In any country you can reset or delete the advertising ID from your phone settings (on most phones: Settings › Google › Ads, or Settings › Privacy › Ads).
  • Android also offers more private advertising features, which you manage from your phone settings.
  • With iBalanz Plus, no ads are shown.

iBalanz Plus purchases

If you buy iBalanz Plus, the payment is processed by Google Play. iBalanz does not see or store your payment details: it only stores on your phone that you have Plus.

Microphone, photos, and installed apps

  • Microphone: only if you use voice dictation with the assistant. The app uses your phone's speech recognition service (for example, Google's), which handles the audio under its own policy. iBalanz does not record or store audio.
  • Photos and files: only the ones you choose with the phone's picker, to attach them to a transaction or use them as a section background. Attachments are stored on your device and, if you turned on backup, in your Drive; background images stay only on that phone.
  • Apps on your home screen: to offer you shortcuts to your banking apps, when you open the shortcut picker the app checks the apps on your home screen. That check happens on your device and is not sent anywhere.

If you write to us

If you write to us from Settings › Help & contact, your email app opens with a message that may include technical information (app version, Android version, phone model, language and whether you have Plus) to help us solve your case. You see that text before sending it and can remove it. It never includes your financial data, and we use your email only to reply to you.

What we do not do

  • We have no user accounts or our own servers storing your data.
  • We do not sell your information.
  • We never send your transactions, balances, accounts, notes or photos to advertisers or anyone else.
  • We do not use analytics tools of our own: the only technical data that leaves the phone is what the Google services described above receive (ads and text recognition).
  • We do not ask for access to your location, contacts, SMS or calendar.

How long data is kept and how to delete it

Your data remains on your device (and in your Drive, if you enabled backup) for as long as you keep it. You decide when to delete it:

  • Delete individual records or a whole profile in the app.
  • Uninstall the app to erase all information stored on your phone.
  • Delete your backup copy at drive.google.com › Settings › Manage apps › iBalanz › Options › Delete hidden app data.

The data received by Google services (ads and text recognition) is kept and managed by Google under its own privacy policy.

If you need help with any of these steps, write to us at ibalanz.soporte@gmail.com.

Security

You can protect the app with a PIN or biometric lock (fingerprint or face) from your own device. Since your data lives on your phone, its screen lock and encryption are your first layer of protection. Communications with Google Drive, AI providers and Google services travel encrypted (HTTPS).

Keep in mind that the home screen widget and notifications can show amounts in plain sight, even for protected profiles. You can remove the widget or adjust notifications whenever you want.

Children

iBalanz is intended for a general adult audience. It is not designed for children and does not knowingly collect information from minors.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy, and the Google Play data safety form, when we add features that change how your information is handled. The date above always shows the latest update.
